Lisa Eggerling

President

Lisa Eggerling has truly found her “home” with Cowboy Dressage. She knew after attending her first Cowboy Dressage clinic, she had found her passion.

“Cowboy Dressage offers so much for so many disciplines, and it gives me such a useful tool to help riders become better horsemen and strengthen the relationships with their horses.”

Lisa is a Cowboy Dressage Level 1 Recommended Clinician and Learner Judge. She is dedicated to the growth of this discipline and is honored to serve as president of Nebraska Cowboy Dressage of Nebraska and making a difference for the group.

I was born, raised and lived most of my life in the SC corner of MN. I relocated to Blair, NE where I live and work at the beautiful Double Diamond Ranch starting colts and training horses for sale to the public. We breed and raise Azteca horses and Irish Black cattle and have trained and sold our horses all over the US and Canada.

My horse, Azul, and I enjoy spending time together while working with other horses and cattle and experiencing new sights and ideas. We are passionate about the Vaquero traditions and teaching and developing a handy bridle horse.

A few years ago, we were introduced to Cowboy Dressage. We've enjoyed very much meeting and spending time with members and the philosophy behind CD. If my horse loves it, what more can I say?!

As a youngster I read every horse book I could find and wished for a horse of my own.  When I was eight years old my great aunt bought two spotted Welsh ponies for our family.  I named them Jocko and Blaze and my love affair with horses was truly on!  For 14 years I worked at the Lancaster County Extension office.  I was in charge of the 4-H horse program working with kids and horses…it doesn’t get much better than that!   I am recently retired and want to start riding again.  I became interested in Cowboy Dressage because it’s fun, it offers comradery with other horse lovers and whatever you and your horse’s abilities are, it has something for you!

I have been riding horses consistently since I was in Middle School. I asked my Parents if I could have a horse and they said ‘”sure, if you pay for it”. Of course, we lived in town so I couldn’t just keep one in my backyard. So I got a paper route and made a deal to clean stalls at a barn to help pay for board and I brought home my first horse! … I was only 14 so my folks had to drive me to the barn every day! I have grown and learned and met many good horse people along the way.

Of course, when John & I had our girls they didn’t ask for horses, they were riding before they were walking. As they grew through 4H & FFA they rode and showed, and I just got to haul them around.

Now that they are both grown and have lives of their own, I have decided that it is my turn again. So, my dear friend Kendra helped me find Ettey and she has been a Joy to remember how to ride with, to re-learn with and learn new things.

I thoroughly enjoy the Cowboy Dressage group! I appreciate all the support and encouragement that we share. I love that Kindness is Our Brand and I really enjoy sharing this group with old & new friends.

I have been riding (and learning) with Dominic since he was six months old (now going on 19)! Attending clinics, connecting with other horse riders, trainers, farriers and riding groups has been such a positive journey. Finding Nebraska Cowboy Dressage has been such a pleasure. There is encouragement, goal setting, events and opportunities to grow in connection to the horse and with people.

I support keeping the website running.

I was raised in Northern California and grew up riding with my grandmother all over the hills of west Marin. The western lifestyle has always appealed to me, but I didn't like the fussiness and cutthroat competitiveness that was common at Western shows there.

When I was still in California, I lucked into a senior Arabian gelding who loved trail riding and endurance, and when he retired after we'd moved to Nebraska I found a cousin of his; but Shutan didn't seem like a good fit for endurance. Finding Cowboy Dressage - a discipline rooted in partnership with the horse - felt like coming home for both of us. We both love the communication, precision, and partnership.  In 2023 I purchased another cousin as a short yearling, and hope to develop him into a cowboy dressage horse too!

I'm passionate about Cowboy Dressage and growing this club through outreach and event development, and I'm excited to be here for the clinics, the practices, the shows, and the camaraderie!

My love for horses was instilled within me since forever. Being a city suburb girl my only access to horses were trips the relatives farms or the occasional trail ride on a family vacation. Eventually we acquired a horse that my sister as I shared and from there it was history. As we fast forward to more recent years my love for horses has only grown stronger as has my love for my new Nebraska Cowboy Dressage family!

I am not by nature a competitive person so being involved in a group of happy, helpful, and caring people is a perfect fit for me. Cowboy Dressage provides me the opportunity to challenge myself and my horsemanship in an encouraging environment of amazing mentors and friends!

I grew up riding my sister's horses. We lived on the edge of the suburbs and I could walk to the barn. Mostly, we rode on gravel roads. There’s a big gap without horses until my sister moved back into the area, got an acreage, and we started riding again when I was in my mid forties.

I ride in Competitive Trail Riding (NATREC) and Cowboy Dressage. Cowboy Dressage skills definitely transfer over and improve my trail riding. The members of the group are incredibly helpful and supportive. I have really enjoyed my cowboy Dressage experiences.

My passion for horses started when my dad won a Shetland pony in a card game when I was four years old. We only had her for about a year and a half, and I spent several horseless years until I was able to start taking lessons when I turned 13. I started out riding saddle seat and transitioned to hunt seat when the barn changed hands. I rode western and hunt seat while in high school and switched completely to hunter/jumper in my late teens.

Many years passed and after the loss of my heart horse and increases in job demands left me not wanting to ride a few health issues made me realize I wasn’t ready to quit riding after all. I currently ride western (although my love for the h/j world will never fade) and am loving learning about Cowboy Dressage on my wonderful ranch gelding. I am thrilled to be on the Board and looking forward to my growth in Cowboy Dressage with the wonderful people I've met!

I was born and raised in Kansas. I convinced my parents to buy me a horse when I was 8, and many more soon followed. I gave riding lessons, which turned into a job cleaning stalls, chores, breeding mares, and colt starting by the time I was a teenager. During high school and beyond, I showed in 4-H, competed on our State Hippology/Quiz Bowl team, rode in Prairie Dusters Drill Team I started my own business buying & selling ponies and riding colts.

I’ve always felt a pull to do more with horses, and Cowboy Dressage is one way for me to do that. I’ve never been interested in competition much, but I LOVE growing my knowledge, riding with like-minded people, and becoming a better horseman, which fits in perfectly with the principles of Cowboy Dressage. I’m passionate about learning and helping other people learn, as well.

This is my first year in the club, and I also serve on the Membership and Outreach Committee. I’m excited to be a part of and help grow Cowboy Dressage Nebraska!
